Individual Training for Search and Rescue Personnel

Each level is a prerequisite for the next level

MINIMUM RECOMMENDED TRAINING STANDARDS FOR SAR FIELD PERSONNEL

SAR Operations III (Basic)

Must complete the following level of testing and training:

• Introduction to Search & Rescue ( ISAR, FUNSAR, or SARFUN )
• NASAR SAR Tech III or higher
• Basic First Aid and 2 Rescuer CPR or higher

SAR Operations II (Intermediate)

Must complete the following level of testing and training:

• FUNSAR or SARFUN
• Step by Step Mantracking or Council approved equivalent
• NASAR SAR Tech II
• Advanced First Aid, DOT First Responder, NCOEMS Medical First Responder or higher

SAR Operations I (Advanced)

Must complete the following level of testing and training:

• Advanced Search & Rescue Skills Course
• NASAR SAR Tech I
• Incident Command System I-300

MINIMUM RECOMMENDED TRAINING STANDARDS FOR SAR COMMAND PERSONNEL

Incident Commander & Operations Chief

Must complete the following level of testing and training:

• Managing the Lost Person Incident, Managing the Search Operations
• NASAR SAR Tech III or higher
• Incident Command System I-300 and I-400
• Introduction to SAR ( or FUNSAR or SARFUN )

Planning Section Chief

Must complete the following level of testing and training:

• All requirements for Incident Commander and Operations Chief
• Planning Section Chief for Search and Rescue
